COHEED AND CAMBRIA- PHOTOS BY LIANA MARIE PHOTOGRAPHY
I ended up covering the shows, after all through doing house photography for the venue and through Sight Of Sound Magazine. But I wanted to share them with my Buzznet family! Hope you all enjoy them!
From a photographer’s stand point, Russian Circles’ performance was bitter sweet. There was no vocals, just pure music.Their instrumentals were unbelievable. By having no vocals, it leaves room for the listener to interpret the music in his or her own way. What a creative, beautiful, and all around interesting performance. The music was rather dramatic, and was able to speak for itself. The lighting was complimentary to the mood of the band’s set. That being said, there wasn’t much more light, than there were vocals. This made their set extremely difficult to shoot most of the time. Russian Circle member states, “Photographers hate us.” However, it was a beautiful performance nonetheless. I had the opportunity to chat with the guys a bit, on the way to transporting them to their place of stay. They were so incredibly grateful for such a simple act of kindness. It really says a lot about their character. Russian Circle is unbelievable and you should check them out if you haven’t already. You’d be a fool not to!
Coheed fans seem to have mixed feelings, about Between The Buried And Me. But in my opinion, the band put on quite a show! They showcased a unique sound that night, much different than that of the other two bands. Although difficult at times, their light show was beautiful! The band killed it on stage from instrumentals and vocals, to their quirky transitions. It was a fun performance! I felt as if maybe it just took some of the Coheed fans by surprise. It was my first time seeing the guys live, and while I enjoyed their music beforehand I enjoyed it just as much live. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to check them out. You should do the same!
I never thought, I’d see the band live-- much less photograph them. And It was a sincere pleasure! I had been a fan of Coheed And Cambria over the years, and now I know why. Their stage performance was INCREDIBLE. And yes, Claudio Sanchez’s hair and voice are just as beautiful in person. Minus the occasional reds, their lighting was flawless. I was lucky enough to make it out to both performances. The second night was extra special as it was Claudio’s Birthday. The singer humbly collected all of the birthday gifts and cards being handed from the crowd of screaming fans. Coheed played a variety of songs from “ A Favor House Atlantic”, to “Delirium Trigger”, and “The Afterman.” The band closed out the night with a 3 song Encore including “Wake up”, “Key Entity Extraction I: Domino the Destitute”, and a long time fan favorite, “Welcome Home.”
